Scripture: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4

Biblical love is not based on fleeting emotions or conditional affection. It is rooted in the very nature of God, who is described in Scripture as love itself (1 John 4:8). Unlike worldly love, which often seeks what it can get, biblical love seeks what it can give. It is sacrificial, selfless, and enduring.
When Paul wrote about love in 1 Corinthians 13, he wasn’t describing a romantic feeling but a holy calling. This kind of love is patient with others’ faults, kind in response to cruelty, and humble in both success and failure. It doesn’t insist on its own way or keep a record of wrongs. Instead, it chooses to believe the best, endure the worst, and hope in every season.
Biblical love is perhaps best demonstrated in the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He loved the unlovable, forgave His enemies, and laid down His life for sinners. That is the standard we are called to pursue—not just in words, but in action.
Love is the foundation of Christian community. Jesus said the world would recognize His disciples by their love for one another (John 13:35). This love should extend to family, friends, neighbors, and even those we find difficult to love.
Today, ask yourself: Am I loving like Christ? Let’s make it our daily prayer to reflect God’s love—not just in feelings, but in how we speak, serve, forgive, and live.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to love as You love. Help me to reflect Your kindness, patience, and humility. Let my life be a witness of Your love to a world that so desperately needs it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
